The holidays can be the perfect time for an engagement. For some, the idea of planning a holiday proposal becomes overwhelming. Here are a few tips to help you plan a worry-free proposal while enjoying family, friends, and holiday festivities.
- Play Off The Season.

An easy way to create a thoughtful proposal is to play off the specific holiday you are proposing around. If your loved one is crazy about Christmas tree hunting then take him/her to a Christmas tree farm where she stumbles upon tree(s) decorated with twinkle lights and personalized ornaments that represents special memories together. Musicians can sing her favorite holiday song while you two celebrate that she said “yes!”

If you want to save time and money, consider proposing a few days before an actual holiday like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years Eve. Venues typically charge more for holidays and vendor availability, such as photographers, are limited.
2. Use Your Resources.

If you’re going to be around family during the holiday, they can help create a ruse! One family member can distract your soon-to-be-fiancĂ©e and bring her to the desired proposal location while the other family members help you to set up the dĂ©cor on site. When ordering proposal items, have them shipped to a trusted source to avoid any suspicion. Also, if you are proposing to your girlfriend, we suggest utilizing one of her friends/sisters/aunts to take her to get her nails done before the big moment!
3. Think Through Traveling.

If you’re traveling, we recommend not proposing on the day that you arrive at your destination. Travel has so many variables (late flights, lost luggage, late check-in, etc.) that it can cause hiccups in your plans while making you more nervous about the big moment. To avoid unnecessary stress, plan to propose the second or third day of your trip. Also consider Mother Nature. Add things like a cozy monogramed blanket or spiced hot cocoa in a cute travel thermos to bring warmth to an outdoor proposal. For peace of mind, you can’t go wrong with a romantic indoor ambiance.

4. Capture The Moment.
We absolutely recommend hiring a professional to discretely capture proposal photos and/or video. Professionals understand lighting, best directions to shoot, and capture the moment in focus unlike an inexperienced friend. We promise that memory will be one worth capturing well!

5. Hire a Professional Planner.
It’s the best way to ensure your fiancĂ©e-to-be remains surprised! The last thing you want to worry about is if the venue is running on time, photographer is hiding well enough, or if the flowers and framed photos you ordered will be set up correctly. Hiring a professional proposal planner takes all those concerns and worries off your shoulders. It means you can really be present and truly enjoy the moment.

Here at The Yes Girls Events, we help proposers all over the world pop the question in thoughtful and extraordinary ways! We believe your marriage proposal should be as unique as your relationship.
